Basic Public Utility Regime

The Public Utility Superintendency has published the third edition of its book Residential Public Utility Services: Basic Regime, compiling the following regulations: Law 142 of 1994, Law 143 of 1994, Law 689 of 2001 and Decree 990 of 2002.

 

Law 142 of 1994

This law establishes the Colombian residential utility system and sets forth other provisions.

 

Law 143 of 1994

This law establishes the regime governing the generation, interconnection, transmission, distribution and marketing of electricity throughout the national territory, grants some authorizations and sets forth other provisions regarding the power sector.

 

Law 689 of 2001

This law partially modified Law 142 of 1994.

 

Decree 990 of 2002

This decree modified the structure of the Residential Public Utility Superintendency.

 

Law 775 of 2005

This law established the Specific Superintendency Administrative Career System.

 

Law 489 of 1998

This law contains rules regarding the organizational structure and operation of national entities.

 

Decree 4110 of 2004

This decree regulated Law 872 of 2003 and adopted the Public Management quality standard.

 

Decree 1842 of 1991

This decree contains the National Residential Public Utility Users' Statute.
